About PortBridge Internet
PortBridge Internet was founded in 1998 to deliver an affordable,
dependable, and local Internet access option for residents
and businesses in the Raleigh/Durham area of North Carolina.
PortBridge is now building the largest network of local
dial-up ISPs in eastern half of the Carolinas.
PortBridge continues to develop an affordable alternative
to the impersonal, national ISPs that increasingly are cutting
support staff (see news
report about Earthlink's recent cuts). The company also
believes in the need for local dial-up Internet access,
even as a number of local ISPs have closed because they
are saddled with service and equipment contracts they can
no longer afford.
PortBridge customers have come to expect high-quality,
friendly support, along with rock-solid Internet connections.
By sharing a world-class Internet infrastructure among several
communities, PortBridge will help ensure the continued availability
of local Internet access. PortBridge has already brought
enhanced and expanded Internet services and support to many
of the major markets in Eastern North Carolina. Recent ISP
acquisitions include:
- iPass.net Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill (Feb. 2001)
- ESN.net Goldsboro, Kinston, Wilson, Greenville (Sept.
2002)
- Interlink Communications Raleigh, Goldsboro,
Kinston, La Grange (Jan. 2003)
PortBridge now serves thousands of customers across in five North Carolina counties. PortBridge is one of the only NC-owned and operated companies involved in our local communities.
