Setting up Email in Netscape 4.x

  1. Close all running instances of Netscape.
  2. Go to Start | Programs | Netscape Communicator | Utilities | User Profile Manager.
  3. In the Profile Manager, click New to create a new profile
  4. Click Next on the introductory "Creating a New Profile" screen.
  5. Enter your full name and email address and hit Next.
  6. Leave the default Profile Name and directory entries as they are. Click Next.
  7. Enter mail.portbridge.com as the outgoing (SMTP) server name. Click Next.
  8. Enter your entire email address in the username field, then enter mail.portbridge.com as the incoming mail server. Select POP3 as the incoming mail server type. Click Next.
  9. Enter news.portbridge.com as the news (NNTP) server and hit Finish.

If you want to check more than one email account on this computer, close Netscape and repeat this procedure for each additional email account. If Netscape is set up for more than one user, it will prompt you to choose which user profile to use (i.e., which email account to check) when you initially start Netscape.
