Preventing Web Page Popup Ads
Many web pages use popup ads, small web pages that appear when a page is loaded, to advertise their products. Some also use "pop-under" ads that load behind the window of the page you're currently viewing. Many users find these ads annoying and want to prevent them from appearing.
We found and tested several popup ad blockers, and found that the best popup blocking performance was provided by the Google Toolbar. This toolbar is intended to give you easy access to the Google web search engine through a toolbar that appears at the top of your web browser screen, but also includes an automatic form fill tool, and a very effective popup blocker. To use the Google Toolbar, you must use Internet Explorer on a Windows-based computer; using the popup blocker requires Internet Explorer 5.5 or above.
